I have always loved unique and out of the ordinary things, so, when I came across the Becca One Perfecting brush I literally was able to think of nothing else for an hour or two but whether I need (or at least "want") it or not.

Becca The One Perfecting Brush
When you see a brush like this and it claims that it can replace 10 of your brushes (Foundation Brush, Powder Brush, Contour Brush, Bronzer Brush, Stippling Brush, Blush Brush, Fan Brush, Concealer Brush, Kabuki, and sponge) what's a makeup addict like me to do? I also chanced upon a limited edition one that sells for a very reasonable price (more of this on the latter part of the blog), and I have a fear for this scenario when the things that I didn't buy comes to haunt me back and it's not available immediately anymore, so I closed my eyes and went ahead and ordered it.

Actual Product (Becca Limited Edition The One Perfecting Brush)
When I received it, the first thing I did was to feel the hair of the brush. It was really soft to the touch, but holding the brush itself for the first time did really feel weird. It was big and the fit on my hand felt a bit awkward. The next thing I did was to clean the hair of the brush to get rid of any dirt or bacteria that it may have come in contact with during storage and shipping. I would really recommend cleaning your brush after purchase because aside from this, initial cleaning also helps get rid of the hair that may shed-- if and only if the brush does shed.
When it's time to try it out, I felt lost at first, but after a few strokes, I finally was able to get the hang of it. I actually watched a few videos that demonstrates the uses of the brush. Here's the tutorial video link of Becca's Style Director, Kerry Cole.
It takes a little getting used to, but when you do, it serves it purpose well. You can tell from the feel of the hair (its goat hair) that it is made of fine materials, it is densely packed and really great for evenly buffing out products on your face. The first time I used it, I used it to apply my primer, base foundation, contouring, bronzing, highlighting, blush and setting powder. I particularly liked this brush for the "cheek-job" (Contouring, bronzing, highlighting, and blush). It gives precise application, and evenly blends the product as well. The only issue I've encountered with this brush while using it for the first time is that it did shed a little. I understand shedding while you're cleaning them, but shedding while using it is another thing. It is excessively annoying to have to remove the hair that would fall off your brush on your freshly made up face. Although, it wasn't as bad as what the other reviews say, I'm still a teenie-wee bit nervous that it might continue shedding. Aside from this, everything is just a tad bit perfect.
How to Clean Your Becca Brush
Cleaning our brushes regularly is very important to make sure that we get rid of the accumulated excess product and prevent our brushes from housing dirt and bacteria on their hairs. Specially for a brush that you would use for a ton of different products, you can never avoid product buildup. Although, what I do is that I spot-clean it before and after every use just to make sure that the dirt and excess product that it accumulated from storage and my previous use is cleaned out. For a makeup artist like me, hygiene is number one and it is of utmost importance that we give excellent care to our tools (like brushes) to ensure its quality and performance is maintained. Just the same, for personal use, if you want to keep your brushes' quality, you have to know how to properly care for them(I will write something about cleaning brushes soon).
I got my Becca Brush from an online shop, @nicolettemakeup for Php 2695. I found this prize very agreeable because I know that this brush should retail for a much higher price here in the Philippines as it is not readily available. Shop owners (which is not plenty) who carries this product orders this from abroad, so it is either they sell it for a higher price, or you'll have to wait for a few weeks, even a month, for it to get here, or worse, BOTH. It is one of her extras that came in from her previous preorder. Originally, I was only going to get a lighter shade of Anastasia's Dipbrow Pomade, but when I saw that she has a few Becca brushes coming in, my anxiety went overdrive(hahaha). Plus the fact that it is in Limited Edition doesn't hurt, too. To top it all of, the seller, Nikki, was very accommodating with my questions. Just as I was about to pay my order, I had a temporary major dilemma between this brush, and the Rae Morris Radiance Brush and had a gazillion of questions about both brushes. She was very patient and very helpful even when I was on the verge of changing my mind about my order. In my years of experience in online shopping(haha), I know that at this point, other sellers would either be pissed, impatient, or arrogant. I love dealing with shops who has very helpful and informative people to assist you. It makes you feel that you are getting your money's worth. When I got my orders, she even gave me a freebie(a Clinique CC Cream sampler). I am really impressed with how my transaction went with her shop, and that is why I decided to write something about them and not because they are paying me or anything.
So, will I recommend this brush to any of you? YES. It certainly lives up to its promise once you learn how to use it. It will take off lots of time from your daily face routine without compromising the quality of your makeup application, and will help lessen the brushes you need to use everyday hence less brushes to clean for you!
'til the next,
xoxo
